Our Commitment to Crayola® Product Safety

Providing you with safe, high-quality, and age-appropriate products is our top priority at Crayola.  Since our brand’s beginning in 1903, we’ve ensured that our products are safe. We appreciate the trust that parents, teachers, and children have in Crayola. We want you to know what is being done to ensure everything we provide for children’s use is safe.

Crayola has had a comprehensive plan in place for many years and is continually updating the quality assurance programs to ensure Crayola products are safe and of the highest quality.  Here is some safety information you might want to know:
1. As the leading brand of children’s art materials, we have always taken a leadership role in product safety. In 1936, Crayola became a founding member of what was then called the “Crayon, Watercolor and Craft Institute,” and is now called the Art and Creative Material Institute (ACMI). This organization promotes product safety in art materials for children.

2. Crayola adheres to all government and industry safety standards. Our products are reviewed by independent toxicological evaluation to ensure we are offering safe art materials of the highest quality.

3. Our Quality Assurance team in Easton, Pennsylvania continuously works to ensure our raw materials and products in our global supply chain are consumer-safe, and that we comply with continuously updated government directives and voluntary standards regarding product safety and quality.  As new safety methods and testing procedures are available, the Crayola Quality Assurance team applies them.

4. We continue to evaluate, screen, and test our products and raw material components where they are sourced—whether that is in the United States, China, Europe, Asia, Mexico, or Brazil.

5. We have had metal detection and x-ray detection devices and metal filtering systems in place on our product manufacturing lines to ensure product safety.

6. We exceed our retailers expectations by providing them with safety testing and compliance results, and we conduct any product tests they might request.

7. Inspections and audits of our overseas manufacturing vendors—which are being stepped up to ensure that the facilities we work with have the highest standards and meet our world-class specifications—have occurred on a regular basis for many years.

We appreciate the unique relationship that Crayola has with parents, teachers, and children. The relationship is based on a heritage of trust and product quality that we are committed to upholding. You can always feel good about using Crayola products. And we value any information consumers have to share with us about our products. As always, feel free to contact 01702 208170 with any questions or comments you’d like to share.
