Egyptian Tomb Diorama

Egyptian Tomb Diorama lesson plan

Explore the treasures of ancient Egyptian tombs! Recreate a wondrous tomb full of detail in this Model Magic® diorama.

  • 1.

Ancient Egyptian tombs are full of wonder and treasures! The treasures left behind in these tombs were intended to supply the buried spirit with everything it would need in the afterlife. These items have been very important in helping us discover what life was like for ancient Egyptians.

  • 2.

Look at pictures of uncovered tombs with your class. What items have been found buried in these tombs? What could this object have been used for? What else do you see in the tombs? Sculptures? Wall paintings? Each object has important significance and was buried for a purpose. Do research to find out why these works of art were included.

  • 3.

Use the information you find to design a diorama of an ancient Egyptian tomb! Start by finding a small, recycled box, like a tissue box, in which to build your diorama. Fill the diorama with treasures molded out of Crayola Model Magic®! Model Magic that is fresh from the pack will stick to itself. Dried pieces can be glued together.

  • 4.

Use Crayola Classic Markers to add details to the walls of the tomb and the Model Magic pieces. You can also use items in the classroom, like paperclips and marker caps, to mold the Model Magic with exquisite details! Remember to decorate the outside of the diorama as well!
