Serve up a helping of math! Use plastic plates and Crayola Dry-Erase Crayons to practice math facts with your students.

  • 1.

    A large plastic plate is a great surface to use with Crayola® Dry-Erase Crayons. Choose a light colored plate like white or pastel colors Dry-Erase crayon colors show up.

  • 2.

    Practice math facts using Dry-Erase Crayons to write a number sentence. Draw pictures of food on the plate to match the number sentence and then write the answer. Take an added step and label the answer using words.

  • 3.

    The best part is it’s easy to change the menu! Simply wipe off the plate with the E-Z Erase Mitt and serve up another helping of math.


  • Students are engaged and motivated to practice math facts.
  • Students demonstrate their knowledge of basic addition and subtraction.


  • Pair up students to practice. Have students draw the number picture only and then trade with a partner to write the number sentence and solve.
  • Have students demonstrate the concept of same and different. Draw a number picture on the board and have the students draw the same picture on their plastic plates and then write the number sentence and solve. Switch it up and ask them to draw a number p
  • Assessment: Observe individuals or partners working together. Review plates for accuracy and completeness.
