Recycle junk mail. Appliance and furniture flyers are the perfect resource for this activity.

Invite children to describe their work. Talk about art elements (line, shape, form, color, texture).

To create a house: Select cardboard boxes for rooms. Ask for adult help to remove any flaps.

Spread the work area with newspaper. Put on a Crayola® Art Smock. Decorate the inside of each box as a different room with Crayola® Washable Kid's Paint and So Big® Brushes. Dry overnight.

Glue the boxes together with Crayola® School Glue to make rooms in a house. Paint the outside and add a roof if you like.

Cut wallpaper, gift-wrap, or fabric scraps and glue to the walls or floors. Dry overnight.

To shop for furnishings: Look through magazines to find small pictures of household objects. Cut out the pictures with Crayola® Scissors.

Cut recycled file folders a little bit bigger than your pictures.
10.
Use a Crayola® Glue Stick to attach your pictures to the cards. Add sparkle to lamps or other furnishings with Crayola® Glitter Glue.

Sort the pictures into rooms. Which items might go in more than one room?
