Go on a safe treasure hunt, indoors or out. Discuss rules and take necessary precautions.

Walk around the building or neighborhood to find easily identifiable shapes.

Encourage children to trace shapes and sketch them. Help spell names of object. Build visual, math, and language literacy all at the same time.

With Crayola® Crayons, write your name and the date on white paper. Take several sheets with you on a shape treasure hunt.

Trace shapes with your fingers-if you can reach and they are safe. Look up high. Look near your feet. Shapes are all around.

Sketch each shape, and write where you found it.

After your walk, write a group experience story about the shapes you and your friends spotted. Talk about the different sizes and textures you discovered.

Staple all your sketch pages together to make a journal of your treasure hunt.
