Space Ship

Space Ship lesson plan

  • 1.

Discover space exploration. Build on information about space missions children hear about on the news and their own fantasies. Read books. Explore the Internet.

  • 2.

Ask an appliance dealer for a huge shipping box.

  • 3.

Use a utility knife to cut the box as children request. Store the knife in a safe place when you are finished.

  • 4.

Imagine traveling in outer space. What would your space ship look like?

  • 5.

Ask an adult to help cut a huge box to create a space ship.

  • 6.

Cover the floor with newspaper. Put on a Crayola® Art Smock. Paint the space ship inside and out with Crayola® Washable Tempera and So Big® Brushes. Dry overnight.

  • 7.

Create an instrument panel using construction paper and collage materials such as aluminum foil. Cut pieces with Crayola® Scissors. Glue them on with Crayola® School Glue.

  • 8.

Write the ship's name, the country, and draw a flag with Crayola® Washable Markers. Add details with Crayola® Glitter Glue.
